Savannah Hospitals Offer Savannah Real Estate Owners Specialized Healthcare

Savannah real estate owners enjoy specialized healthcare with three Savannah hospitals located in the Savannah, Georgia, area. Memorial Health University Medical Center (MHUMC) and Candler Hospital are located in midtown Savannah, while St. Joseph’s / Candler is located on the southside.
The 530-bed MHUMC was named as one of the “100 Best Companies to Work For” by Fortune magazine consecutively from 2004 through 2006.
Additionally, J.D. Power and Associates have recognized the Savannah hospital as a Distinguished Hospital for three years and the Association of American Medical Colleges has categorized it as a major teaching hospital.
University residency programs include Diagnostic Radiology, Family Medicine, Surgery and Internal Medicine. Backus Children’s Hospital also offers a residency program.
The Women’s Health and Breast Center, Cancer Institute, Eye Institute, Heart and Vascular Institute are located on the campus of MHUMC. The Savannah hospital is also the site of the Backus Children’s Hospital, specializing in aquatic therapy, neonatal care, occupational therapy and more.
Within a short midtown drive from MHUMC is Candler Hospital, another Savannah hospital. St. Joseph’s / Candler and affiliate Candler Hospital offer a total of 615 beds, making it the “largest healthcare provider in the region," among Savannah hospitals.
St. Joseph’s / Candler is a recipient of the Magnet Award for Nursing Excellence, and since 1999 has been listed as a top national 100 Integrated Health Systems by Modern Healthcare Magazine.
St. Joseph’s / Candler specializes in Cardiology, oncology, Neurosensory Disorders, Women’s Services, Children’s services, and more. The Savannah hospital is a Magnet Award winner for nursing.
The Savannah hospital is affiliated with Atlanta’s Emory University Health Care, Jacksonville’s Mayo Clinic, Neumors Children’s Hospital and Tampa’s H. Lee Moffitt Cancer Center, and the Nancy N. and J.C. Lewis Cancer & Research Pavilion, which is located at the hospital.
The two Savannah hospitals merged in 1997, creating one health care system that has become the “largest and most experienced health care provider in the area,” according to information provided by St. Joseph’s / Candler.
Both Memorial and St. Joseph’s / Candler hospitals provide care for patients throughout the Coastal Empire, from Charleston to Jacksonville and all areas in between. The hospitals also staff urgent care centers throughout the Savannah, GA, region. //
